Dedicate a seat and be part of the Gardens' story
A tribute plaque on one of our seats is a wonderful way to honour a
special person, celebrate a milestone or preserve a treasured memory. Operating for over 30 years, our Seat Dedication program is one of the oldest and most respected in Australia and you too can be part of the Garden’s story by recognising your loved one’s legacy or honouring lasting memories through a Seat Dedication.
Your fully tax-refundable donation is invested in Royal Botanic Gardens Foundation to support the Gardens’ conservation and development.

How much do I donate for a Seat Dedication?
A Seat Dedication is an $12,000 donation to Royal Botanic Gardens Foundation Victoria and lasts for a period of 10 years. Your donation is fully tax-deductible and will ensure the Gardens continue to thrive for future generations. If you are donating via a Foundation yourself, please be in touch with the Philanthropy Team.
Note that there are limited seat numbers available for dedication within Melbourne Gardens.
How long does the seat dedication last?
A Seat Dedication lasts for 10 years. At the end of the 10-year period we will contact you to ask if you wish to renew your seat dedication. If you do not wish to renew your seat, your commemorative plaque can be forwarded to you to keep.
What will my commemorative plaque say?
You decide what your commemorative plaque will say, subject to AIɫɫ approval. The layout of the plaque’s text (Calibri) will be sent to you for final proofing and sign off. Your stainless-steel plaque is 15cm wide x 5cm high. It will be attached to the top slat of the dedicated seat in Melbourne Gardens.
A Philanthropy team member will contact you about your personalisation plaque after your donation is received.
Where will my seat be placed in Melbourne Gardens?
Seats are placed in a number of locations within the Gardens, however, they are not fixed to the ground and are often moved by visitors.
When you dedicate a seat via the Dedicate a Seat button, you will be provided options on areas available to place tour seat.
Please note some areas are at capacity, and if so, a lovely member of the Philanthropy team will contact you.
Will I be able to track my seat?
Yes, a GPS tracker will be attached to your seat before it is placed in your preferred location. This will enable you to locate your seat quickly and without much searching. Details on how to use the seat tracker system will be provided after your seat is placed in the Gardens.
Please allow eight weeks from the time of your donation for your seat to be placed in the Gardens
Where does my donation go?
Your donation is invested in the Royal Botanic Gardens Foundation Victoria to support the long-term conservation and development of the Gardens for the enjoyment of future generations.
